Date: Posted on Category: Tips/Trends
If you didn’t already know –yellow, is this summer’s hottest color. When it comes to yellow, a little goes a long way. How can you not adore yellow? It’s so uplifting! And on many occasions daring. Without even realizing it until now, it’s been taking over my closet slowly. With so many shades to pick from, yellow is so much fun to pay around with and incorporate into your favorite summer outfits. Here are 6 different ways I’ve been wearing yellow a lot lately:

Mini Dress

Hello, mini dress and leg appeal! Whatever color yellow you go for, make sure you find one that works best with your skin tone otherwise you run the risk of looking washed out. Here’s a tip for wearing this summer’s hottest color. Cool and warm skin tones cannot wear the same yellow tone. For cool skin tones, go for pastel yellows and for warm skin tones go for rich, golden shades. Pair with a strappy pair of wedges or sandals. This will be your favorite summer dress ever!

Earrings

Not sure that any of these fashion trends are for you?  That’s easy –find a pair of yellow statement earring, like a chandelier or dangling ones for a touch of yellow, that’s not soon to be forgotten.  A monochromatic neutral outfit will suit the yellow earring best. Find yellow earring that uses textures and fabrics, like beads, tassels, or even feathers.

Crop Top

If you’re feeling a little spunky and, after all, you should because it’s summer –why not try adding a bit of yellow to your usual outfit. Don’t worry about finding the perfect yellow top to match a particular outfit. Instead, casually ease yellow into your wardrobe with a small summery piece like a crop top that could be layered with a cardigan, sleeveless vest or even an oversized shirt. This way you can wear the trend and still look sophisticated.

Bathing Suit

The yellow bathing suit is bold. If you’re in the mood for a change, then the yellow bathing suit might just be that change you’re craving. It is not a classic, but it can be with a classic cut or style.  Whether you slip on a bikini or a one-piece, go for solid in this summer’s hottest color, yellow rather than patterns. With a large sunhat and extra large sunglasses, the yellow bathing suit will make an announcement wherever you are.

Gingham

Gingham tops the trend charts this year as a pattern that is both playful and serious. It’s no wonder that it is a match in heaven when paired with this summer’s hottest color, yellow. It can be worn to a work meeting or to a picnic and be successful at both events. Yellow gingham oozes summer.  Consider tops, dresses, pants, and skirts in yellow gingham. Go for gingham head to toe or for a statement piece. Don’t shy away from this adorable yet brave way to wear yellow this summer.

Ruffles

If you’re looking to mix romance and island flavor, then the yellow ruffle is all you need. Make the yellow ruffle top be your statement piece (see my guide The Key To Pulling Off The Bold Ruffles Trend here). Go for skinny or boyfriend jeans and a neutral sandal, or if the weather is scorching pair with shorts or a long breezy skirt. The off-the-shoulder ruffle is the trend of the year. Why not pull together two powerhouse trends into one smashing summer outfit?

Happy mixing and matching with this summer’s hottest color! What do you think about wearing yellow? I’d love to hear what are your other favorite colors to wear this summer!
