About two weeks ago, I decided to indulge in a really expensive facial. I know it sounds crazy and I’ve been on the fence about this for years but it was finally time. Despite having access to high-end beauty products and following a really strict skincare regimen, fact is, there are times my skin simply refuses to cooperate. That in conjunction with my usual working lifestyle and motherhood never spurs a good reaction.

I’ve had my fair share of facials here and there but nothing near the $1000 range. My curiosity got the best of me in terms of whether or not a pricey facial can deliver long lasting effects that extend beyond the usual one week that I’m used to seeing. That’s when I came across Daphne Studio, a luxe spa rooted in European tradition and modern technology. And I made the jump. So 120 minutes and $895 later, I was expecting to come out youthful, radiant – and flawless. Get the scoop on how it all went down…

Daphne has a reputation for the MBR Liquid Surgery Facial, which is what I came for. It involves products and techniques from

innovative German skincare brand, Medical Beauty Research (MBR), a brand developed by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and skincare specialists. The formulations consist of effective ingredients in the highest concentration that treat the skin on the surface all the way down to the thermal layer. And it’s entirely free of mineral oil, parabens, peg, phthalates, and artificial fragrances.

This facial uses MBR’s miraculous product, the Liquid Surgery Serum, which would set you back $1,700 for a bottle. It’s ideal for those seeking a significant reduction of wrinkles, sun damage, or sagging skin as it boosts collagen synthesis and replenishes moisture, ultimately resulting in a revitalized, youthful complexion. I was basically sold on this…

Here’s how things went down…

This facial involved three steps on the face, neck, and decollete: cleanse and peel, treat, and seal. During this process, I was exposed to new technology and processes I didn’t even know existed.

For instance, there was a rubber mask from MBR, called Algen Modelage, which is only available for professional. It’s loaded with Vitamin E, silicate of Brown Algae, and other ingredients, which help detoxify the skin, calm it down, tighten pores, and improve elasticity. The cooling effect was extremely calming and refreshing especially after trekking around in the heat.

Next, a High Frequency Machine was used to treat my acne and kill bacteria as well as improve blood circulation to prevent future break outs.

Then came the Modeling Face Machine that uses galvanic current to help stimulate collagen and the penetration of products. I could feel that it stimulated my facial muscles.

And finally, there was the LED Red Light Therapy treatment. We often hear about blue light being used to treat acne, but this was my first experience with red light, known for accelerating wound heals and stimulating collagen and elasticity – all of which are essential to anti-aging. I was really impressed with the entire process from start to finish.

Final Thoughts…

So as for my transformation, my skin felt rejuvenated, plump, lifted, and even softer than I knew was possible. I looked awakened and refreshed with a glowing base… But that does come with a really steep price – maybe too pricey for most of us. However, if money isn’t an issue and aging skin has begun to surface, it’s a great experience worth trying!

Would you ever indulge in such an expensive facial? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
