I‘ve spoken about Coachella so many times already, but it’s officially kicking off at the end of this week. I hope I prepped you enough with plenty of cute outfit options and comfy shoes. However, there’s one thing we haven’t yet discussed and that’s what you should do with your hair! The heat out in the Palm Springs desert isn’t very forgiving. Because it gets scorching hot, dry, and super dusty, you need to be prepared to sweat! Don’t forget your sunscreen, but definitely don’t neglect your hair. Even if you’re not participating in Coachella this year, there will be plenty of music festival opportunities and summer bashes you can be a part of. No matter where you’re headed, I have 6 easy festival-ready hairstyles you can start practicing now!

Whether you’re into braids or ponytails, read on for the all the festival-ready hairstyles you need for the rest of spring!

For Long Hair:

Fishtail Pigtail Braids

I wore this hairstyle last year and loved it so much that I wanted to include it in this year's hair inspirations! Fishtail pigtail braids are perfect if you like a bohemian look that's fun and youthful. Be sure to tease your hair along with a few strands before you start braiding to get volume and loose ends that naturally fall out.

You can add ribbons, jewels, flower or butterflies clips into the braids for a fun, and of course, festive look.

Side Swept Ponytail

Anything asymmetrical is really standing out in fashion today. I suggest taking this trend well into your mane by trying a side-swept ponytail. It's a quick style that looks great on longer lengths because you can really play with the volume and texture in your hair. Consider dry shampoo or a texturizing spray your best bet for an effortless, undone pony.

For Medium Hair:

Half-Up, Half-Down Bun

There are two ways to wear the half-up, half-down look. Regardless of which you choose, I love this style on medium-length hair. The first option is to pull the top half of your hair into a bun at the crown of your head. The second option is creating two spaced out buns (think Chun-Li style) with the top half of your hair. I love how cute this style looks with soft, loose waves because it’s so carefree and easy to achieve! You can secure your buns with bobby pins or spiral pins.

Scrunched Up

If you haven't embraced the scrunchie trend yet, now's the time to let them shine! Your scrunchie hairstyle can be as simple as pulling your hair back into a high pony or securing a top knot. If you have bangs or layered strands that you want to keep out of your face in the desert, use a scrunchie to pull back the top part of your hair into a ponytail. It's such a 90s look but will have you festival-ready in no time!

For Short Hair:

Scattered Braids

Bobs and lobs have pretty much taken over. Even though I haven't caved yet, I admit that there's something super appealing about wispy, chopped ends. However, they can be hard to style or keep fresh. One of the things you can try is scattered mini braids. If you have naturally straight hair, simply pull out thin random strands and fold them into braids.

You can secure the ends with small transparent rubber bands. To achieve a more "undone" look, put waves in your hair with a flat iron or a wand and then add a few random braids throughout. It's such an effortless look but will definitely add an extra flare to your festival outfit.

The simplest solution to sprucing up short hair is to add accessories! Headbands are re-emerging but don’t be shy to experiment with bandanas, glitter, ribbons, or a jeweled hairpiece. Whether you’re into waves, braids, or pulling your hair back into a half-up, half-down style, use this opportunity to change up your look! Music festivals might be one of the few times you can get away with these rare accessories!
