Do you even know the splendor of the Garment District? Everyone talks about Soho, 5th Avenue, the Village, Brooklyn, the Meatpacking District, and LES, with good reason –these are amazing areas of New York City that cannot and should not be ignored.  But somehow and somewhere, the Garment District has gotten swept under the rug; much like Red Hook in Brooklyn or Alphabet City in Manhattan. I went and fell in love, not just because the streets are tied to the fashion industry, but because there is a real revival happening. The neighborhood is coming back to life after a long rest.  So, wake-up, too, and visit one of the coolest up and coming areas in New York.

Want authentic Italian with a serious flair? Then make your way to Carbone. Wear your best black dress to embrace your sexy Italian diva. Carbone is in the middle of Manhattan, but it’s real enough to make you feel like you’ve entered a time portal and stepped into some cobblestone street Italian spot. Go for the Chianti and any pasta dish and you’ll feel the need to start speaking Italian.

Looking for a place to enjoy a drink or two, don’t miss the Refinery Rooftop! Who doesn’t want to have a bird’s eye view while indulging in some cocktails?  I know this is my new favorite way to meet up with friends. Any old bar just won’t do anymore. The view plus the unique blend of drinks is what makes my heart swoon. It’s either that or the heights. Either way, this is the fashionistas signature for going out. Make it yours.

If you are nuts for macarons, you’ve got to slip into MacarOn Café for sweets and art. The mixture of art and desert is a classic; and of course, you know they’ve got gourmet coffee delights to satisfy even the toughest connoisseur. Sit back, sip your espresso, nibble on something sugary, and admire the art. It’s a perfect afternoon in the Garment District. Go for a boho style and really conjure the artistic aura for this Garment District hotspot.

Last but definitely not least, the Garment district is known to host some of the best sample sales in the city. Where would a fashionista be without sample sales? Come on, ladies! Often times the price tag is enough to give us a heart attack even if we’ve just fallen head over heels with a piece. At a sample sale, you get the designer brands, but without breaking your heart or your bank account. If you have never been, go now, don’t wait. Be prepared to want so much and pay so little. And be prepared to carry home some amazing pieces to spruce up your wardrobe, not matter the season.
