Earlier this month marked International Women’s Day and nothing makes me feel more powerful and most like a full-blown Lady Boss than wearing a trouser suit. It is no longer worn strictly in an office building as the power suit has been trending a lot lately – especially monochromatic, casual versions. A lot of women can get intimidated by how audacious a look it is, but I am here to tell you to fear not! It is a look that anyone can easily pull off.

Some of my favorite monochrome trouser suits are in a single bold color that people on the street cannot miss. The top colors for 2018 Spring and Summer seasons include lavender, rose, yellow, red, pale green and sky blue. In addition, some other monochromatic suit options include a uniformly printed design featured on both the blazer and trousers.

Here are some of my tips when it comes to wearing a casual monochromatic trouser suit:

Go Bare

To wear the trouser suit in a way that’s super feminine, go bare underneath and fasten all the buttons. It lends a sensuous vibe with an understated flash of cleavage, but isn’ too baring. It’s perfect for atypical evening wear. You can add a belt or wear it plain. Regardless, you’ll be one of the chicest in the crowd.

Layer with a T-Shirt

One way to tackle the casual monochrome suit is by pairing it with an oversized t-shirt underneath. This really tones the whole look down and is a great alternative to your usual button up and suit combination. A plain tee option will allow the suit to be the main focus of the outfit or a graphic tee can accentuate a monochromatic suit and provide more character and originality.

Accessorize Just Right

As always, I strongly believe accessorizing is such an important part of any look. For the monochromatic trouser suit, a pair of statement earrings can add just a touch of glam or layered necklaces would look amazing against a plain t-shirt. On the other hand, the right handbag can change the whole mood of the monochromatic casual suit look. A waist bag would pay homage to street culture fashion and a shoulder bag would keep the look relaxed and put together. To top it off, you simply can never go wrong with a pair of sunglasses for a high-profile, mysterious look as I always do.

Pair with Sneakers

Nothing says stylish, yet effortless more than a pair of sneakers. You would be surprised at how well a trouser suit can be complemented with such a casual footwear option. Sneakers that are minimal tend to be the easiest options, but do not be afraid to opt for the more trendy chunky sneaker option for the ultimate street style look.

For an undone look, skip the socks, but as we know, socks are trending high right now. It would be the perfect opportunity to show off a new frilly or bright-colored pair.
